SERVICE ANIMALS
Is my service animal allowed inside the Shreveport Convention Center?
Service animals are permitted at the Shreveport Convention Center. The ADA defines a service animal as any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal individually trained to provide assistance to an individual with a disability. This includes psychiatric service animals that are individually trained to provide service to individuals with psychiatric or neurological disabilities, such as preventing or interrupting impulsive or destructive behaviors. It does not include emotional support or comfort animals. Service animals must be harnessed, leashed or tethered at all times, unless these devices interfere with the service animal’s work or the individual’s disability prevents using these devices. In that case, the individual must maintain control of the animal through voice, signal, or other effective controls. The Convention Center reserves the right to request removal of a service animal that poses a threat to safety of other guests, employees and noncompliance of ADA laws.
